Yea, I think I used that for another grenade. I made it in a few hours compared to couple days with that first grenade. This one's a bit simpler looking. I like it more, it's more the way I wanted the grenade to look like (minus some bump things that make it look a bit like a sea mine, I'll use those for some other). Maybe it could have some little details here and there..



edit: I added some details in it (which I want to be round and smooth), plus made the low poly ones, 257 for world, 977 for view.

Some rifle model.. It could possibly shoot bullets and throw flames.

Decided to do some modification tests with it, then I started adding some details in it. I think it's looking a bit like one weapon I made some months ago that failed due design flaws. It was an energy weapon, so maybe this one's energy weapon too. Just having one kind of ammo for it supports that idea too. Maybe that firemode/safety switch could have some more space over it. Might be difficult to switch it back down with thumb. The sighting system has a laser sight plus some back up sights if the laser sight stops working, or the user don't want to use it.

Some work on the highpoly model... it's not complete, missing some insets for the bolts and grooves for the front grip thing.

Some little details... The ammo drum needs some work on the top, plus something to the weapon where you put the ammo drum, though that part is not very visible...

Nice gun you have there, I hope the texture looks just as nice, ive noticed with a few of the other textures you've done, especially on the grenade feel a little to random and a tad odd, and sometimes look like there just a base material with normals and AO put on top, I know these are meant to be alien technology's but I'd like to see a little more detail in the textures.

Thats true but there are always tons of details you can add with texture, regardless of whats modeled. Scratches, ware around edges, dirt, chipped paint and just grunge in general are all very plausible and excellent details to add, not to mention having a good base.

Picking up off of what Myles said, I didn't really grasp the grenade texture. Partly because I just don't like the lighting you use to show textured models. Makes it way to hard to see the texture. I think it would be really cool if you implemented more realistic texturing to these models, despite them being Alien stuff.

With that said, I love your modeling style. Keep it up!
