First model I ever made in mudbox

Hey Everyone,

I'm a high schooler with primitive experience with game art. During this past summer, I enrolled in a game art course at expressions college and I would really appreciate it if anyone could critique my work and/or give me general advice.

I wanted to create my character from scratch beginning with concept art. I got the idea of a humanoid hippo and so thats what I went along with. I first created the base mesh in maya, then sculpted the details in mudbox. Lastly I applied a normal map over a low polycount mesh in order to a fit a game appropriate model.

I would've loved to texture, rig, animate, and added it into a game engine but due to time constraints and my limited knowledge I was unable to do so. I had about 24 hours to go up to this point of the production pipeline.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

I used mudbox because it was easy for to teach and I was taught using mudbox and I grew accustomed to it. However I would like to say that I envy Zbrush's ability to retopologize and create new geometry.

Heres the link!

Hi ok I left a post on you video about the lighting but the rest I'll post here:
The arms appear to be a bit flat horizontally on the bicep. Around the neck also looks flat you may want to pull that out a bit. For the feet there is a normal map issue happening on the inside of the foot. The face looks like it's smashed in. The snout and mouth can be longer as well. I would like to see the wire frame on the final with the normal map. This is cool for the first try. Mine was crap compared to what you have here. Did you explore the idea more before you started modeling? Did you draw it out and look at refrence? I know it seems like a point less question but those things help. Also add some character to the model what king of a person is it? What will they be doing? Give us a idea of who this character is.
