JoeriV's sketchbook

So I posted in the introduce yourself thread, so if you are wondering where I suddenly come from, you can find some more info there.

To start it off I am just gonna post some works, and then I'll just take it from there.
It might be a bit quiet the coming weeks since I have quite a bit of work for school (that fire emblem 8 clone in c++ is taking a bit to much of my time ), but It'll pick up afterwards since I'll have 3 months to do free work.

First off:

First assignment we had, we had to make a vehicle only using max's primitives, nothing more.
Some people have asked me if I had plans to take this further, but in reality due to the way it was made, (for example having the sharp edges due to no turbosmooth), it would be just to much work.
Maybe one day I'll make a proper pod-racer

Cityscene:

We had to make a low poly cityscene using only diffuse textures (no normal maps/spec/gloss/etc), and use tilable textures.
Basicly 1 house is uniquely textured, all the rest uses tilable textures.

End result came in around 22k poly's.
Could have done more with this, but time was against me

360 rotation:

Slideshow of person height shots (crappy quality tough)

Some lightning practice (models were not made by me).

And what I am currently working on,
some non realtime stuff.

Still have a bit to do on this, finish the materials, redo the reels, etc.

So yes, because there are about 4 weeks to go untill the exams I don't exactly have a lot of spare time. (this assignment, we have to program 2 2d games in c++, and some other stuff).

So yeah, started working on the final assignment (and the last non-realtime, next year everything is gonna be realtime stuff).

Goal, Fiat 126, and make a rally version out of it.

Need to take a step back though atm, and work a bit again on the basic ship and flow since that's definatly not good yet ><

Wire:

Test Render (not the final material, just something for testing purposes)

Quick material test (not to happy about it yet)

Cleaned up the wires for the most part, and made a very quick render (materials/lighting are not towards the final, just something I threw together quickly to spot the biggest mistakes).

Thanks a lot, really appreciate it.

Bit of an update on the car, did some material work, and put it into the final image (quick test lighting/fov/reflections/etc is a bit off.

Another one I tested but wasn't to happy with:

And some work on the rubber material of the tyres (really need to finish the wheels ><)

Gonna be happy when this is finished, it will kind of mark a sort of milestone, first year of school finished , and the start of the vacation wich I'm really looking forward to, since I'll have tons of time to dump into free work, and actually starting on real time stuff.

But for now, I'm not gonna spam the thread with like small updates, so the next update will probably the final or almost final (gotta turn it in in about 1,5 weeks, but in reality it's more like 4-5 days of full work due to other assignments).

If anyone would have some feedback, I'd really appreciate it, since I wanna push this work further then I did with the other ones.
