Hi!! Been modeling a simple metallic box during my spare time. So far, I only baked it(to produce the normal map) and applied a simple diffuse texture....I kinda ran out of idea in the end!! lol

Shipping Container

SHIPPING CONTAINER
Hi!! This is 3D Modeled and Textured shipping container that I've been working on for a while now. I unwrapped it, and applied a diffuse texture. The normal's and specular maps are still not present.

Some pretty good stuff so far! Can you post an image showing the wire frame for low poly?

Hi, I though up some suggestions for your phone booth.

Try adding the detail from your diffuse/color map to your normal map. You can do this by using the nvidia normal map filter, ndo, crazy bump or any other application that can generate normals from an image.

A rule of thumb is that you dont need more than 3 uniqe sides for an object texture wise and in most cases you only need 2 (Not counting top and bottom). So you could basicly do 2 sides of the object and repeat them, this will save you alot of texture space.

Keep up the good work!

Hi korpehn!! Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. About the phone-booth, I have Shader-Map pro which is like crazy bump or any other application that can generate normals from an image. To be clear about what you saying, should I open the diffuse map in the normal generator software to create and bring out the extra details?... and if so, will I have to dispose off the normal map I created from baking?... THANKS!!!

The trick is to combine the normal map generated from the diffuse image with the normal map created from baking.

You could use the overlay blending mode in photoshop, its quick and dirty, or you could go more advanced and follow this tutorial:

Combining Normal Maps in Photoshop | it just works.

I havent really done any 3d the last year or so. So I could be pretty outdated
