Bored of this one now. May come back to it and tweak it, but just going to move on.

Funny you mentioning the Gears stuff I had a look on Polycount and yes the stuff is very high quality and I think their characters are very well done though not keen personally on the giant feet thing.
But the environment stuff is just alot of noise in terms of details.

Thats 1 thing I always try to keep in mind on my work not to put too much detail in just so that the hi res looks the nuts but how will that look when baked down to a game resolution texture.
Usually it becomes a mess of pixels that you cant tell what is going on. My feeling is usually less can be more if you put the details where they need to be.

Aye noise can end up pretty bad if it's overkilled. I do kinda like it though, can look epic if it's used sort of respectfully. Environmental art is really difficult, I'm not good at distributing detail, that's why I'm practising characters.

Started some fat monster thing a few hours ago.

Main inspiration was from another GOW 3 sculpt which, I proper love the massive arm thing so I'm pretty much ripping it off in my own way lol.

Started to detail it. I also got a new graphics card today so I can just jump straight into detailing, old card couldn't handle more than 5-6mil polygons...so I always had to retop after I had a cool silhouette. So nice being able to just wack it straight into 16million polys straight from a zsphere xD.

About 4-5 hours on this so far.

Direction of the detail so far, probably change some as I go along.

Pretty much done with major forms. Got some issues with the eye and the teeth though, they just don't look right. Gunna model the teeth/gums in maya, and probably re scale the eye and sculpt a better looking socket.
Also planning to add some kind of spikey armor on hishuman looking arm.

Nearing completion. Probably going to start the next one though, and then eventually go back on completely tweak all the details on previous models.

Started next one, I just noticed the legs are bit out of proportion from taking the screenshot too.

Never finished that skinny guy. One of them lost interest projects. :/
Started making this though, basing it off a proper old drawing I did.
