Soph's Sketchbook

Hi all, I thought id start a sketchbook to get crit on my current work as i am working very hard at becoming a character artist for games, (I'l get there one day! >.<) please feel free to crit, its the only way il improve

This Artemis, she is still work in progress but on hold for the moment as i need to go back to it with a fresh head

Heres the high res version..

And this is the baked down version at 11,300 tris..

My latest piece i am working on is Dr. Facilier, based on the Disney Character from 'The Princess and the Frog'. I really wanted to go for a mix between stylised and realistic, kinda similar style to the characters from 'Brink' (I cant wait for that game!>.<) the skull on the hat is kinda floating at the mo, im still unsure on how its going to attach to the hat =/ but for now just concentrating on getting the proportions and detail in on the high res.

low res version of head, with early texturing, i want to paint all the textures by hand ultimatley...

And finally where im currently at, just got the base mesh body ready, i think im happy with the proportions so time to start to get detail in now.

As i said constructive crit always welcome

Soph, be proud of yourself, I absolutely love the Dr. facilier model your working on. The clothing looks great, one thing i'd like to point out is the creases on the right leg seem to make his leg look thinner than it actually is towards the bottom.. maybe it's just me but it may look better if the right leg looked similar to the other

If you don't mind me asking, what method did you use to make the clothing? Still learning here

Thanks Shade for creases ive just been using standard brush with alpha 38 on, then pinch over some of the tighter creases. For bigger shapes i use clay tubes with various standard alphas, but there are many different ways to do it, that's just my preference . Im hoping to get this guy done in a week or so, il post the finished version soon

Awesome stuff , I'll have to give this technique a try sometime as i've only experimented alittle using garment maker, with a result looking remarkably like a xmas jumper...

Yes please, can't wait to see your finished work
