Former modder getting back in
Hello all,
I used to be very active in modding back in 2003 and I'm getting back into it. I got a pen mouse I can use on the move and I've been screwing around with Photoshop on my long train ride back and forth to work every day. Here's what I done so far: (I try to sit in a spot no one can see what's on my screen) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Current WIP ![]() Did this one a long time go, 880 polys, no normal/bump mapping etc ![]() Taking a look around, it seems like a lot has changed and I got a lot to learn. Hopefully I can pick up some new tricks around here. |

Hey tastetheblade,
First of all welcome back. I like the quaility of your work my only crit would be that they are all of existing models of guns taken from the profile like the FN Hi-Power. What Im saying is that these would be no better then to go and grab some photos of the guns to use as blueprints..it would be cool if you used this technique to A) make some concepts of non-existing guns or B)make the ones you have done already and put them in to a perspective view to really show them off C) or model and texture them in 3D. dont get me wrong I do like them and its a good exercise its maybe a harsh crit but I'd like to see the guns outside of the profile pic or they just look to similar to the pictures you can get all over the net for Blueprints ![]()

Lol don't worry about offending me, I've worked in telemarketing and I've been the target of a lot of very unique and creative insults.
Anyways, I own a Star, TT, and Browning and I chose those cause I could get a close up look at them. I basically made these to practice Photoshop. Maybe these can be made into a weapon selection menu or even a poster or something of that sort. I'll probably be making some 3D stuff soon. Here's the Mac 10 9mm I finished. My favorite part actually was making the weld seams on the stock. ![]() Next project, I might invent a gun. But that will be for the train ride home. Are you making these for textures or are they just paintings? They're very detailed and accurately scaled, almost like infographic shots. What's a pen mouse?

I'm mainly just practicing Photoshop while having fun. I don't have the time or money to learn a "modern" 3D modelling program right now, so I'm doing this for now. I work at a sign shop, and they gave me Photoshop to take home.
I've been playing around and trying to make a concept for my own gun. Here's what I have so far. When done, it's supposed to be a lightweight semi-auto tactical rifle for the civilian market. When done, it should accept all AK47 magazines. I know, I'm a gun nut. Here's what I have so far, this is my first time trying painted rifle stocks, so I'm still trying to make it look realistic. ![]() This one and Nambu Type 14 coming soon. The pen mouse is exactly what it sounds like, a mouse in the shape of a pen. I use it on the train because there's nowhere to set up a regular mouse. It's made by Salient Technologies, just search for it. Last edited by tastetheblade; 05-03-2011 at 12:46 AM. |
