...holy shit...zebra cakes were amazzzzing lol. I like your stuff so far especially your walkway there, nice subtle details. The portrait of the character could use some more contrast. Maybe define a true light source instead of the head on light source now so you can really define some of the forms in there. keep posting!

Thanks, I did the Zebra cake back in 2007 in my local college art class, it was my favorite piece to do there.
lol yeah the character is admittedly all over the place in terms of proportions, shading and well pretty much everything. I just started drawing random lines and it eventually turned into a woman by accident, I probably should of used some references after I established what it was. Though I agree I definitely need to really work on my color blending in photoshop and adding more contrasting color tones to add depth. |

Thanks. Yeah I didn't really spend too much time on the sketch and I didn't block it out so it's most likely has some serious issues. I'm actually scared to go back and block it out to see how off the proportions are lol.
Anyway I agree need a lot of practice on getting deeper values. I tend to stay in a rather limited range for some reason. Though it's hard to tell what the true values are on my work - I have two screens and they have different color and brightness values so I don't know which one is the closest to reality. If you have a good way to fix this dilemma I'd love to get it worked out. Last edited by JBaird; 19-03-2010 at 12:20 AM. |
