Young's Sketchbook
Well I've been texturing hundreds of map models for DOD, on the goldsrc engine, and I figured might as well post some work here. Doing most of the models were easy, but now that I"m on the vehicles, I need to add a little bit more detail. I'm more for weapon texturing, but vehicles hopefully won't be too much different. Here's my first attempt. Map sizes are 512x512(or equivalent map proportion), models are very low poly, and only diffuse textures.
Kettenkrad, 968 tris, 3 maps. ![]()

![]() Working on setting up a decent VRay studio scene. Have 3 lights, 2 from the side, and one on the top facing the draped background. Did a bit of color balance and levels in photoshop, I like the overall result. Mesh is just editable splines and chamfered cylinders.

Was playing TF2 with some friends earlier, and I didn't really enjoy the sandman. Just made a new model (tried to copy default, but without the crack in it), left is with normals, right is without normals. Baked in xnormal from about 150k polys, really all that is needed, gave a nice smooth effect in the end. Probably will sculpt a hand mold for the grip or something, give it some nice detail.
