Satan - 3D Sketchbook

I thought what the heck, I might have one as well.

Here's something I've been working on for the last 2 days:





I decided to make highpoly only for the roof for baking (which isn't shown here). I'll texture it soon enough.

Edit: And it's 6000 tris.

So the roof is supposed to be low-poly? =/

I guess it is a little steep for normal mapping but may be you could use parallax?

LOL ... yeah. I tried making a flatter roof, but it was taking away the grace Chinese roofs have.

And ofcourse there will be LODs. But I don't know. Maybe you guys can suggest me something.

yesh, very nice roof, with a high triangle count though.

You can keep the volume there, for a single edgeloop then make it flat from there until the places where the roof intersects with the structure and use NORM to fill the details in the remaining area

Not too much of a progress. But I tried doing what Fabiodan told me. I was able to pull it down to almost at 4K tris. Now let's see if it works with normal map which will be coming up shortly.

Looks very cool. Do you need that slight bevel on the bottom of every one of those beams by the roof though? Seems like something extremely minor. I realize it won't matter too much but eh, if you want to keep it low poly it'll save a few triangles.

Well it's almost 18 feet high model. Genre is FPS. So yeah, I kind of have to keep it.
