Hey everyone! I wanted to put all my little projects in one place soo...

The character is for a game which my friend and i are making. This is the first model i made for the future game. He is doing all the programing and i'm doing all the modeling and texturing. We're jus playing around for now untill we found more members. Anyway i'm suposed to keep it under 1000 polys, and this guy has 971(with all equipement). Here are some stats:

helmet 43 polys
chestplate 108
legarmour 76
arm 40
glove 42
boot 38
sword 62
shield 54
shoulderpad 38

And the uvw layout:

I'm interestred what do you thing, does it look good considering the poly limit. And one more thing: his engine dosn't support normal maps , so i did't bother making them.

I'll post more as soon as have the spare time (the highschool is keeping me busy )

You have quite a bit of unused space on your uv-map, that could have been filled easily. This way, you're giving a way a lot of texture resolution.

I don't know, if you're already done texturing, but what you have right now looks pretty bland, add more details. Here is a cool example of what you could add to your texture, to improve the overall appearance of the texture..

Geometry is hard to crit, since there are now wireframe shots, but judging by your uv-layout I'd say, your edgeflow could be improved. Here you can find Ben Mathis tutorial on character creation, maybe you can find a few nifty tricks to improve your mesh a little..

With that said, I'm no character artist. I hope I'm not telling anything stupid..

Thanks for the reply Insulaner.
I'm not very good at texturing, so i'm trying to fix that, you're right about the unused space, the map is sloppy, thanks.

As soon as i get the hold of my computer i'll post the wire, so you can see the geometry clearly. And thanks the tut. Oh yes, you're not saying stupid things, you helped a lot.

Btw i'm not a character artist, i'm better at hard body modeling, this is just practise(obviously i need it ).

Here's the wire of the character

And here are some older projectes (models only, no textures. my design ). LURWAR pulverizer

It has 905372 tris , it took me about a week, every day for 1-2h.

I really like making weapons, so here are some more, any coments are welcome

static pulse cannon:

SPC has 134994 tris btw

This is the latest one, it's a wip so it needs more work, feel free to post any new ideas

If anyone wants to know i'm using vray irradiance+light cache and GI enviroment skylight override is on.

Those are some crazy guns, although are they all stationary defence guns or small arms? Because at the moment im not to sure about scale or how they are used or what things to, which are quite important when making weapons.

Good question myles.

The first one LURWAR, is suposed to be huge, about 300-400 meters long, floating in space like a satelite, above a planet (i got the idea from c&c tiberium wars- ion cannon)

The second-SPC is like a machine gun(maybe the size of mg42, for example). I'm not sure yet, maybe i'll make it bigger and add a seat in the back, so you can sit and fire.

The last one is big as a tank (abrams, for example).

Thanks for the reply.

Here is something different. I started making it abot a month ago, but i had some other stuff which kept me busy.

This is suposed to be a part of a much bigger project i started. It's actually a room in a wizard's tower and this is the last floor. The plan is to make a central pilar with staircase around it, all the way to the top. And this is the study room; at the moment i don't know how many floors/rooms(every floor is a room) is going to have, except a armour room (with all sorts of armours and weapons) and a huge garden tier.

I'd like to hear what do you think abot the whole idea, and maybe help with what should other rooms look like. Any coments are welcome.
