You seem have at least two unnecessary segs running the whole way around the rutter (in the center).



There is no need for the center line segs as they aren't doing anything for the model other then adding unnecessary polies.

To be honest you could optimize the rutter down a lot whilst still keeping good form. I have to go out... so I can't elaborate on this now.

Ha, yeah! I made that rudder out of a cube with lots of polys.. I haven't got into the habit of making something low poly and then subdividing to make it more detailed.. I can definitely see how it's going to help though.

I didn't like that rudder anyway, so I tried a couple of alternatives ending up with this one:



I've attached a couple of alternatives made from curves to mesh.. They didn't look quite right..
