3D Artist looking for UNPAID work

Hello all,

I want to do some 3D work for games but, as I do not have gameart experience, I am willing to participate on 2 or 3 projects for free. What I want in return is:

- My name on the credits
- A copy of the finished game/mod
- A couple of screenshots from the game showing my work
- A short recomendation letter to include on my resume

The game should be either a standalone game for Windows/Linux or a UT3 mod that runs on the PS3 version of UT3.

I can do basically any type of 3D work. I "self-rate" my skills as following:

Character Modeling: 6/10
Environment Modeling: 7/10
Props Modeling: 9/10
Skinning/Texturing: 8/10
Rigging/Animation: 7/10

I have been working as a freelancer 3D artist, mostly for TV and video, since 1991. Some samples of my work can be seen at artista3d.com.

Please either reply to this thread, send me a PM, or send me an email using the mail icon on my website to contact me.

I am looking forward to start working on some great projects soon.

Thanks,
Wagner Schieber - aka "artista3d"

Hello Grizzly3D,

Thanks for pointing that out, but there is only one problem: I want to work on something that I will be able to see running afterwards and, as I do not own HL2 (besides the Orange Box for my PS3), I currently am not interested in joining a HL2 Mod.

Anyway, Pirates of the Empire seems really promising, and I wish you guys the best of luck!

hey.

due to licensing problems between Epic (UT3) and the people that own the audio codec for the PS3 many people are turning their backs on UT3 for PS3. This is because its no possible to load custom sounds over to the ps3 version. also people are worried about the PS3 cause of its massive lack of memory.

I doubt verymuch you will find a good UT3 mod if you are limiting it to be used on the PS3.

Also Epic have launched the MAKE SOMETHING UNREAL CONTEST. and many people are going for it with there mods. (my team included.) anyway.

XcuMaSoft Dev & TL:Community Forums • Index page is our forum. we are a new team and would love to have you on bored. you never know. by the time the games done the codec problem could be sorted out.

we are a team creating a single player RPG kinda like the final fantasy games.

so feel free to pop along and see what we are doing.

also if you wanna SEE the stuff in the game thats not a problem cause we will make you special ps3 enabled maps so you can see your models ingame. and also create you vids to see it in the mod.

best advice i can give is that you get UT3 for the PC and come and join us :P

anyway good luck in picking a project and remember our doors are open.

Hey Bunnykinx,

Thanks for the advice, but currently I cannot afford UT3+new mouse+new keyboard, so that will have to wait a little.

Anyway, about the offer, by checking your forums, I could see that you are already into some development, but things are still in need of some organization. I will keep an eye on the forum, and it is possible that I join you guys in the near future. Maybe by then I will already have my copy of UT3.

Thanks again

anyway thanks for checking us out. and i promise more will be coming around the forum in the next 2 weeks lol..

such a shame when your starting a team that no one wants to join till its already set up :P

Yes, the demo reel is mine. I did basically everything there, besides the video shooting of the real humans. Did you like it?

About you providing me with UT3, that would be nice, but then I would see it as "paid" work. Although I am willing to commit myself to a game project, I have some real paid work as a freelancer right now, and I would have to give a higher priority for that, so I cannot commit myself 100% to any project. That is why I want some "really unpaid" work, preferably small projects that I can manage to work on during my free time.

Thanks again!

yea thats ok. I do understand.

If you ever want any work to do on a piece by piece basis (without deadlines) thats fine as long as I know before hand.
I would provide you with ingame vids and snapshots for your portfolio.

I understand either way.

anyway great luck in your paid positions

Thanks Bunnykinx, you have been very kind.

I would like everybody to know that I have already joined a project, and I am having fun working on it.

Thanks for everyone that offered me a chance. I would like to work in all the projects, really, but I had to make a choice.

Artista, if your interested Mech Tech is looking for a couple of skilled Environmental artists and Prop artists, and you may have the chance to do a bit of mechanical modelling and animation if your interested.

Feel free to check out the development forums here:
Mech Tech DEV Forums
Or our public forums at:
Mech Tech MMO Community Forums - Index page

We could really use more people developing the intricate maps of ruined new york, if you are interested then just jump over to the Dev forums, register a account and post a bit about yourself and then ask in the job forum

Thanks
Svothe
