SFAM - pAldred

Ok, I am a team of one and I have decided, after a good night's sleep, to do the underground cavern from the movie "Evolution". I think it will allow me to get better with mudbox and organic modeling. So lets see what turns out! Should have the moodboard done by the end of today or tomorrow. Or a sadder note, my desktop has crapped out on me so I might not be able to import it into the unreal 3 game engine. But it won't get me down or stop me from doing this competition.

The start for the alien underground cavern from the movie Evolution. This is just the hollowed out shell for the scene. I plan on adding rock and stalagmites to help break up the smoothness of the cave. There are some seams where the cave roof meets the walls. I plan on hiding these with some pipes.

Alright I'm calling a redo, I am saying screw the evolution scene. After a three days of pulling my hair out for doing one alien plant. I'm calling a redo. I am going with my first choice. The movie Nothing! I am doing the scene before the two friends enter the nothingness. Where the house in in between the two overpasses.

For those of you who don't know what nothing it - Nothing (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The new Moodboard for the movie nothing - http://fc30.deviantart.com/fs40/f/20...by_okoRobo.jpg

I will have some models up tomorrow. Going to get started right now.

That's some nice reference you have in the moodboard
Did you do the illustrations of the house yourself?

Here is the start for the house.

To answer Rob's question I just took some screenshots of the movie and pasted them in photoshop. Then added a black outline to them.

I would've like to have seen the alien cave. Remember, just do one small piece at a time. I have a ton of small objects to model after I do the buildings for my scene.

I was just spending to much time on one object that i was getting to upset over it. So I just picked something less frustrating.

Ok, I have the house 75% modeled. Still have to do the door/window with their frames. Also have to model out the cables coming off the house. Also fixed the roof a bit. Managed to get stared on the overpass which sit next to the house. That still needs the street lamps. Still have to model smaller assets which go around the house like barrels, tires, and shrubs. I think it is going better than the evolution scene. Much less stress

The scenes are lit with just 1 skylight.

The house

The Overpass - this will be tiled

Possible Final camera shot - Still thinking about this one.
