Scene From A Movie - Game Engine Tutorials, Tips And tricks

When the competition was announced, people asked for a list with tutorials, to help them import assets and setup a scene in their editor. Below you'll find a list that contains links to tutorials sites on what we think are the three most important engines to look at. Every group has at least one developers tutorial list, so that should give you all the know-how you need to succeed.

Even though this is a competition, and you're competing against other people, can I ask you to share any additional tutorial sites you have in this thread, and practice good sportsmanship.

Thank you.

NOTE: This thread can also be used for technical questions you have. If for example you're having trouble importing meshes, or setting up materials.
However, do not use this thread for any competition related questions. Questions like "can i use [enter your engine feature here] for this competition?". Those kind questions have to be asked in the Question&Answer thread.

Didnt know where else to post this, but here are two links I found very useful for this competition and I think some of the other users will too

Internet movie car database - identifies A LOT of cars from movies (both important and random cars in the environment)
IMCDb.org: Home page

And also a site for weapons that does the exact same thing:
Main Page - imfdb :. guns in movies :. movie guns :. the internet movie firearms database

You get the editor when you buy the game I recommend getting the Collectors edition because it comes with a bonus disk that has 20 hours of Editor tutorials on it.

Tom, thanks for the weapons site.

I checked in most of the tutorials there, but there is one thing I want to know.

How can i grab a view port in CryEngine2?... don’t tell me its the print/screen button.

If you run the game you can probably press F9 or something like that as well

but it doesn't make any difference i think. In fact, if you want to be sure you don't have any nasty compressing going on, print screen might even be better...

put on the console:

e_screenshot 1

you can customize the resolution you take the screenshot, with:

e_screenshot_width = 4096
e_screenshot_height = 3072
e_screenshot_quality = 100
e_screenshot_file_format = jpg

(I'm not sure, but I guess that command only works on 32bit version of the editor)

You can also just use, F12!
