just to clarify,we submit a link & not post the images in the wip thread?..is that for copyright reasons?
You can post anything that's relevant to your project in your WIP threads and posting images there is preferred.

Submitting the moodboard in your final submission is best as a link, so it doesn't fill up the thread

The rules state that "Texture limits consist of anything adding up to:"

1x 4096x4096 Diffuse map
1x 4096x4096 Specular map
1x 4096x4096 Gloss map
1x 4096x4096 Normal map
1x 4096x4096 Alpha map
1x 4096x4096 Glow map
1x 4096x4096 Displacement map

Does this mean that we can use up to a maximum (7) 4096 square textures worth of any texture type, even if more than (1) 4096 squares worth of resources may go to a single type of texture like diffuse or lightmaps (which are not listed... can we use those?)

Not listed with the map limitations, but are shadow maps allowed?

Can the scene include main characters? If no, can it include characters that are not primary? I.e. extras....

I was wondering the same thing. Because in 80% of movie sequences you see characters.

For this competition, we're allowing entrants to use engine-specific features that you might not normally get to use in a competition like this. BSP geometry, engine-rendered lightmaps, shaders, volumetrics, particles, shadow/lightmaps and engine-based post-processing. If it's in the engine, you can use it - within reason. We'll get the engine specific guidelines up later when I'm not almost falling asleep at my desk

The current limits aren't interchangeable - You can't have 2x 4096x4096 for a diffuse if you don't use your displacement.

As mentioned above, shadowmaps will be allowed. More info later!

This is fine, yes. As long as the CG is used to help support the live-action theme, go ahead You can't use a movie like the CG Final Fantasy films, but you could use something like the newer Star Wars films or Minority Report, etc.

Organic characters are beyond the scope of this competition and are therefore disallowed. Robots and cybernetic organisms are fine, though. It's an environment competition. Use some common sense. If you're really stuck on what you can and can't use in a specific scene, post your reference, ask here and we'll figure it out
