Joe's Portfolio site

Johannes Sigurdsson - Portfolio
Fresh out of the oven.

When I find the time for it, I'm going to re render the images for a more standard kind of look, and put up a site for each project, instead of linking to just the images. So the site isn't ENTIRELY finished, but as it is, it's now officialy my new portfolio site..

Comments and tips are more than welcome.
Thanks

no probs

err - ill give you some comments and bump the thread....

you seem to have got to basics down - the first page as your art - minimal clicks...though there some other points that might just be personal opinions...

- the first/front page has alot of negative space - you could fill up the black wiht a subtle tiled text or expand the current container you have your work in....

- the thumbnails - you could make them bigger to fill the right space - or atleast center them it's very 'left aligned' to me - but that's just my artistic visual preferences.

- when clicking on a portfolio piece - there is no obvious 'back/previous' button (apart from the default browser one) - and the backgrounds for each is just the stark default white - why not try a 'open in new fitted window' approach or other?

- the 'click to download' pdf on your resume page needs ot stand out - change the colour or underline it to draw attention to it.....

- you've got your 'artist statement' blurb on the 'about me' page - but from a newcomer to your site - i am immediately unsure of what direction or specialization (if any) that you're going for - you mention a little bit about modding - so maybe mention on every page - "Jóhannes Sigurðsson - Level Designer/Modeller" - and possibly only show the work that relates best to your chosen field.

- for some of the low - poly work (neo_gun, fountain) you could show the wires - to show your ability for clean construction e.g.

- the 'cube' animation only has shots - maybe display an actual peice of the animation (using a simple JWplayer )

- and just for multiple redundancy - make sure your portfolio works on lower-end internets/specifications - are all your link btns graphics or inbuilt html? - will it still work with a .css style?

- oh and brand your images (put your name on teh down the btm or something - s if someone copies (a prospective employer?) the work and later likes the images - he/she/it knows where and who's they are.

just some pointers - meh.
