IchII3D Portfilo
Hey, this is my first portfilo website I have finally finished, well.. not finished but got all the base stuff in place so all I need to do now is fill it with content. But ye, would be nice to get some feedback.
Currently only the Animation and some About sections are currently up. Soz for lack of content, just trying to sort it all out now. http://ichii3d.deathbydesign.net/

I'd reword and shorten your opening paragraph.
There's a lot of extra info in there and although you talk about using your skills a lot (actually you use the word far, far too much)... you never actually specify what those skills are. Condensed down (but still kinda wordy) you can end up with; "Welcome to my portfolio, I am Richard Gardner and I'm a game artist and designer currently studying a BA Creative Digital Media at Teesside University. When I graduate in June 2009, I will be actively seeking a position within the games industry. My objective is to work within a structured and organized games company where I would be able to focus on my key skills as a [job title here] while being able to expand my skills in other areas as well as develop new ones." Aside from that, there's not a lot to comment on because there's not a lot of work up there. I would have to say that your blog shouldn't be front-page. Your folio should be first and your blog should be hidden away somewhere else - or even on a different site entirely. |

I see, thanks for your crits, I'm gunna srink down the main page a lot now. I think I'm also gunna have a section in About which says 'blog' so I can just throw all the news in there.
Thanks so much! more crit are very welcome as this is what will make or break a job ![]() EDIT: Do you think its a good idea to break modelling down into two simple sections, High Polygon and Low Polygon. Also in the modelling section should I show the textures on the models? Or put that in the texturing section?

Okies, I made all the changes, what do you think now? Anything else to the basic structure of the website? Naming converntions? How I have broke stuff down?
I was thinking of removing production method from the animation section, but dunno... I like the idea of telling the developer how I made a certain thing. The only problem is it give you so much dam scrolling. I thought that might put people off.

Your modeling sections probably shouldn't be separate. Just a 3D Art bit would do. Maybe split it up into Character Art and Environmental Art if you've got a lot.
But yes, the textures created for the models should be shown along with the model they were made for. I always find it a bit strange on sites which separate them, as if the artist doesn't consider them part and parcel of asset creation but two entirely separate disciplines. I'd also maybe use the word "featured" rather than favourite. Favourite for some reason brings to mind DevART, where the favourites are other people's art that you happen to like. |

![]() hehehe, I don't plan on giving an employer the website for over 4-5 months yet. The Under Contruction area is mainly for myself. Just to remind me it needs doing lol.
