Portfolio - www.nikrichards.me.uk

My website is up, but is still WIP.

Any feedback you guys could care to give me on the layout / content would be great.

I'm due to start uni in September, but am considering having another round of applications to try and get into the games industry first.

Not sure about using such a contrasty colour-theme.. Getting up a nearly completely white screen at 24" is quite a shock really

Perhaps a bit weaker and slightly grey-tinted background would make it stop hurting my eyes?

Other than that I guess it's alright. Not a very stylish approach, but it works. Don't go overboard adding too much stuff to it though, or one wiill lose concentration on the content.

Also, the code's a bit messy. Don't think anyone would bother really.. but updating it/changing it would be kinda painful while coding manually.

Cheers!

I agree with Tiro's about the coloring issue. I think you should definitely go to a university first. I have a hard to seeing any game devs hiring you at the moment. All of your work is really low poly and blocky. Yes you are modeling for games, But game engines have grown leaps and bounds. Companies want to see that you are able to model hi-detail meshes as well. I know I went through a phase where I was modeling low poly simply because it was easy. I didnt Quite know how to handle a more complex mesh. Challenge yourself to model something more complex and you will probably find you arn't really ready for a game job anyways. You have a nice foundation so hopefully after the university you will come out on top.
