Portfolio - Junior Modeler

Hello everyone,

I would very much appreciate some feedback regarding my new online portfolio & the works inside if possible. I have been doing 3D for a little over a year and would like to join a company as a 3D artist.

Link : CPROD.CA _ ALEXANDRE VOYER _ HOME

Thanks.

-Alex

First up - never force large website sizes.

The tables on your website is set to be 1280 wide and 1024 tall. That's far larger than even people runing 1280 wide or 1024 tall screens can display.

Secondly - don't have a splash page.

You want to put as much of your work infront of the viewer with the least amount of fuss. A splash page gives no extra information, takes longer to load, takes longer to get to your site and it requires one extra click from the person browsing. The first page the viewer sees should be CPROD.CA _ ALEXANDRE VOYER _ PORTFOLIO this page.

Which brings us to 3 - Larger thumbnails.

50px images of the work we're looking for is just too small to tell what it's supposed to be. Ensure your thumbnails are nice and big and contain a clear, full shot of the model (I'd say at least 150px in both directions). People will be less inclined to click on things if they don't know what they are.

Put your email address on every page, not just a little icon - probably in your title image. You want it to be as easy as possible for a potential employer to contact you. You'll want it in plain text so it can be copy and pasted, rather than being in a graphic.

For your contact detail and information, have it as text, not a graphic. Graphics take longer to load, don't scale up or down too well and you can't copy/paste text from a graphic. The graphics you are using are also larger than a 1024x768 screen can display at once, meaning a good amount of users will have to scroll sideways to see it all.

Add a word document download option for your resume.

The content itself is ok, but I'd want to see texture flats and wireframes for every model on your site. Your two most impressive pieces (the gun and the case computer) don't have either! They're neccessarry to tell how well the model is made.
