Yes, your layout is bad and hides your work.
Main page > Works > Textures > vague tank thumbnail > vague tank thumbnail AGAIN! > pop-up of Tank Let me direct you to “Your Portfolio Repels Jobs” by Jon Jones (a current spotlight article) http://www.game-artist.net/forums/showthread.php?t=415 Around the middle of this article is a section titled Multiple Layers that your portfolio is a perfect example of. Basically what this does is extremely complicates the navigation of your site, really annoys employers because they have to scour through countless applicants, and puts you in the position of stumbling over your portfolio while on interview. I suggest you take your four texture examples and four level design example, create standard thumbnails that aren’t odd croppings, and put them on your main index page. Then, the employer will have everything they need right there without having to look for it. A few more notes: You should also have your name and email address on the main page (possibly outside the frame) so that it’s always visible no matter what section the user is viewing. The font you use is fairly readable, but a bit tricky on the eye. I’d use something more standard especially on the important contact information. Write up a resume/CV and replace your contact page with that. |
