My Portfolio WIP
heres my site so far. It seems to do what it needs to so I cant imagine I will make any major changes
There are a few models I cant show yet so these are mainly older ones.I plan to have my best 3 new models larger than the rest on the front page. I was trying to make the site as simple, clean and easy to navigate as possble... www.meshfiddler.com

At first glance, the text on the banner is so big as to be easily ignored. It took me a while to work out that there were more links on it for your CV and contact details. I'd maybe try making the banner smaller and move the links outside of it, or making the text on the banner stand out some more (try making it a white or ochre colour) and make the links obviously links (have a bulletpoint beside them or something).
Don't use one big image for your CV and contact pages. People will want to copy and paste this information, which they can't do if it's an image. They'll also want it to load fast - text loads much, much faster than images. It also kills accessibility options. It's also usually a good idea not to use strange fonts for the main content of pages, either, for similar reasons that they're harder to read fluidly - keep fancy fonts to titles and banners, etc.... It'd be nice to see a tutorials section with a link to your AO tutorial. Employers like to see tutorial style stuff, it shows you're able to teach others your methods if required and also gives an insight into your approach and mindset. Other than that, it's looking good. I like the simple approach. |

yeah good points Talon thanks. This was basically a rush job as there is a big games recruitment event on next week so I needed something up.
I'm going to work on this tonight to change the banner

What I wouldn't mind seeing are larger beauty renders of your pieces, you're displaying full texture size yet not on the renders. Your work is great and I really hope you land a job with it, just be sure to really also show it
Maybe even some ingames? i.e. you could pull the soldier into source, the weapon in UT and throw it into a reel with rotating clips of the rest. Pimp your work bud, because you know it's hot ![]() |

thanks for the comments Noel!
Updates - I changed the banner so the buttons are more obvious and added a tutorial link I agree that its lacking in-game stuff. The soldier model is actually going into the torque engine as we speak thanks to Blur games, and all the models I am currently working on will be in the jMonkeyEngine so that should boost the in-game content none of these models will be on my showreel though . I am working on those guys just now
