Tom Wilkinson, Environment Artist
Hello Game-Artist forums!
My names Tom Wilkinson and I'm a fairly recent game art graduate from the University of Teesside. I've managed to put some work together for my portfolio and was hoping to see what you guys/gals make of it. http://art.tom-wilkinson.com/ Am I ready to start applying yet? I look forward to being part of the community. Thanks in advance, Tom

Looks good,
The first scene maybe a bit dark in places (looks a bit like your hiding things away), I would say a few more bounce light to remove some of the pitch black elements your getting on some of the objects. One thing I would say is some of your tri counts look a bit high on some things. The old record player looks a bit too high. You may want to look at creating high poly models and normal mapping them that way (i belive your just using something like crazy bump).

the artwork is nice. But the presentation is rubbish im afraid. I would try to get someone to help you create a nice swish portfolio. Even using a free site that gives you a basic HTML or CSS code would be better. At the moment im more frowning at the actual layout, rather than focusing on the artwork.

I don't see what's so bad about layout though. it's simple and clean - no useless introductions, just pics in yo face. but maybe different projects should be separated from each other more. |
