Environment Art Portfolio

Harley Wilson, Environment Artist

Disclaimer: ^ unfinished

So, I have one year left at university (my course is not related to game art, nor is it important at all) - during which I can spend my free time on working towards getting some industry work. After that it's land a very handy industry position and start renting a place, or I'm condemned to working at McDonalds for a year...

I have a list of websites for studios that I'm very interested in (UK only for now - eyeing up Splash Damage, Crytek, Eurocom, Rebellion, Blitz, Rockstar, etc..) but I need to know how far off I am from being able to get an entry-level/junior artist position. My sum of experience with industry is an interview with Rare about a summer internship and then hearing nothing at all since, so I can't really gauge my own level of work.

More than open to comments about my work and the site itself, I'm quite willing to tear down everything and start over, if need be.

I think you're work shows alot of promise. There is no reason why with some more polish you'd be ready to send out applications.
I'd def make sure you have some hi poly work and some examples of textures flats(sizes) and poly counts.

Basically show clearly you understand the process of High poly to fully textured game asset.

Im not sure the state of how easy it is to get a junior position at the moment as the industry has changed fair bit the few years since I was a junior. I remember it being extremely competive but there are jobs out there so be determined and not be put off by non-responses!

The main thing is to be enthusiastic and passionate which you seem to be. Keep an open to critiques if you post stuff online as you will get this every day in studio and need to be not precious about your work.

I really like your work Blaze_Kick (bit of a copy of my username? )

That is top notch work for someone who hasn’t got into the industry yet, I especially like the Hive, I had come across that very building recently in my Deus Ex gaming!

I am in the same boat and looking for junior positions, but I feel a little doom and gloom that you haven’t seem to got into the industry with that work/portfolio.

Anyway good luck mate!
