[Portfolio] VIDEO - Mikael Wahlberg

.

Mikael Wahlberg Level Portfolio

I have updated my portfolio and I'm looking for creative feedback and to tie some new contacts.

What do you think, should I remove my own commentary?

Feel welcome to drop a line.

Your work is very nice but your portfolio video is way too long and dull and the commentary doesnt sell your work as it should. I think u should make a short video of only 2-3 min where u pack your best stuff. I would add short subtitles instead of commentary.

Your current video is not bad, but its not a good portfolio video imo. Its rather a video for other game artist who do have the time to listen to your story .

Some fantastic and very inspirational work you've got there Lots of different environments in there, which is great.

I would recommend to also have a standard portfolio website with images. Makes it easier to see all your work in a very short amount of time (provided the layout of the site is easy to navigate :P). You have a lot of stuff to show, but as already mentioned a demo reel should no longer be than 2-3 minutes.
The idea with commenting the video is nice, but not performed to well. For example at 1:18min you're mentioning that you can find "some uv stretching and other issues in the model"...it's kind of funny but not really good to present yourself because it could leave the impression that you were too lazy to fix it or something like that.

scrap the commentary... or have another video with no commentary and just text saying what each scene contains.... You want to wow those who view your video. =)

Good stuff though man! Very good work.

Hey, thanks for the feedback guys.

you are so right about the length of the video and that I should do something about the commentary, not sure if I will change it or totally remove it...

Nice work there, its very nice mate. Any chance you're looking for some work? :P

In regards to the video, I might recommend cutting it down into parts, or totally removing the commentary and replace it with text?

Definately invest in a full version of fraps for your showreel!

Thank you Squiggers. Yes, actually I might be looking for work but it would have to be in Sweden or Scandinavia at the moment.

NI 1983 is looking interesting, I love rpgs.
Best of luck to you and your team.
