(Organic?) Modeling Portfolio, seeking feedback
Officially I graduated a few months ago with a focus on high res character modeling. Since then I've been trying to build a portfolio that's more relevant to game art. Here's what I have right now:
Creative Works by Raymond Arnold Right now I have a "finished" section that isn't really tailored to game art, and works in progress section that isn't, well, finished. I feel like the layout could be improved but I'm not sure how. Last edited by Raemon; 12-02-2010 at 12:30 PM. |

I've since changed some things based on feedback from another forum. I got rid of the works in progress section, which people universally said was a bad idea. I also made the image gallery the opening section instead of the demo reel, which I was less certain about.
I know the main thing is that I need to get up some environment art with actual uv layouts, spec maps and what-not. Is there anything else I should be thinking about? |

As it stands now the site is easy to navigate and functions well.
When you do eventually have game art content make sure you provide details such as tri counts, texture sizes etc. You may need to think about the layout once again when you have a page that has multiple images, due to the break down of your work, the page will be tall forcing your thumbnail button menu to be at the bottom off screen. Just move the thumbnail menu to the top and provide a 'back to the top' button at the bottom. Do you want to be an environment artist or a character artist, at the moment it's a bit unclear which direction you are aiming for. Make sure you game art content is clear on this. |
