Son Of Nor

Hi!
I am Tobias Mayr, programmer at stillalive|studios, and I wanted to present you our current game project:

Son Of Nor

"Son of Nor" (SON) is a 3rd person Fantasy RPG. It’s a mage-only RPG, which plays mainly in the desert and its main focus lies on being as dynamic as possible. You cannot just move objects arbitrarily around, but you can alter your environment. You can change the terrain via terraforming magic, and you can summon spells that can be combined in a very intuitive, innovative way. It’s easy to learn and simple to control, however there are so many things you can do that it can be quite difficult to master.
The game itself supports single and multiplayer modes. You can play via LAN, Internet or locally on splitscreen using controllers. There will be a variety of different play modes, from simple death-matches to cooperative invasion which can be thought of as a tower-defense-like-mode.
The first version of Son of Nor is going to be released around Q4 2012 supporting both the single and multiplayer arena modes described above. Afterwards an addon to the game is planned, which will add a singleplayer and coop-storyline. The story itself and the entire universe of SON are mostly done already.

- Multiplayer coop "campaign"

Thanks for the preview I enjoyed it. The narration was pleasant and the idea of a non hub game is attractive. I am sure there are many mage fanatics that will love your game.

We have just implemented the force-magic spells, if you want you can take a look at them here.

Very awesome, love the dynamicness and always loved magic based games. This game has a lot of great potential. Are you guys looking for help at all?

It reminds me of some of the magic casting of Eternal Darkness, I love being able to change and enhance spells.

Yes we are still looking for help, because there is always a lot of work to do The bigger the team, the more resources we have to make the game look awesome, implement a lot of nice features, have many different models..

So here is another update for Son Of Nor

Before you look at the images, imagine the Deeping wall from Lord of The Rings, except way more tangible. I mean, you can make this thing crumble or hide behind it like can't be destroyed (along with you) at all. Krystian (Environmental Modeler) is to credit for this display of Sarahul architecture. The map itself is under development but naturally you can look forward to an interactive design.

And more progress.

The past two weeks were pretty significant to the games development as the team is currently deciding on multiple character and level designs. In the next week we'll all be discussing workflow and assignments regarding SON as well as slight changes in gameplay mechanics. Stay tuned.
