Competition #15 - Armanguy

Hey guys i got alot of concepts done for my corner :P but my scanners not working so i wont be able to put it up but i can tell you about my setting:

the office of detective Gabe Savage a New York police officer that has seen his fair share of strange and disturbing things in his 20 year career.

I wanna make his office really messy and have things just laying around he has a hectic life and i want to show that in his office heres one of the first props i made

edit: to note i didnt want the emblems on the wood to come out too much becuase i wanted to make it feel old but if you guys think i should ill make them more pronounced

I'm looking forward to this one, I'd imagine lighting will be something you should spend some time over when you get to it, in this instance it is quite important in setting the mood.

What other props can we expect to see?

Well, I think you've gone a bit over the top with grunge on this one, should clean it up a little atleast

Also, scratches commonly don't run in a straight line all over from one edge to the other on a table, unless someone did them intentionally with a key or something.. he did a good job on keeping it straight aswell

As for the emblems. I actually didn't notice them at all until I read it in your post and had a real close look.. how about adding some gold'ish colour in their place to fill them out, and make it flake a bit?

Cheers!

I agree with the grunge being a bit over the top. Keep the major scratches to where peoples feet may have come into contact with the base, where the chair has been hitting it, on all the edges where the years have worn away the stain from the wood, and on top where he has been putting his gun down and his feet up at the end of the day for the past 20 years. Make the scratches show his routine. Definitely make the emblems come out more. Even if the desk is second hand I can't see the panels wearing away that much that the emblems would be barely visible. I like the direction that the desk is going in though.

The vest looks VERY flat, would fix that for sure.
The texturing on the desk is nice, but I don't like the horizontal scratches / lines, doesn't seem natural.
