Competition #15 - Kaskad

I expect a lot of people will be trying for a very realistic angle with this, so I'm going in the other direction - something that every gamer is familiar with and that can be easily adapted to a non-realistic art style.

I'm thinking along the lines of UT3 meets TF2 and forgets what greebles are. The centerpiece will be the flag.

Nice idea, but your pallette doesn't strike me as very powerfull. If you have TF2 as an influence: bright painterly colors man!

I do not want to be TF2, I just want to bring some of its surrealism and impressionistic flair into my work

I think a generally subdued pallet will allow me to use bright, saturated colors in places such as the lights and the blood to make them pop more and in general make the scene more dynamic and interesting

e/ and to offset the fail of my concept art, here's a MODEL

Looks better when used on the flag, but you seem to think the other way around as I would: put the basic, darker, less saturated colors in your pallete, and derive the bright flashy, more saturated ones from those. I'd put my extremes in the pallete and base my darker, less saturated tones on those.

the proportions of the room don't seem to make sense for the concept. the gun is practically going to poke the person in the eye when they walk out the door. Also the platform needs to be larger in proportion to the flag. right now it seems Very cluttered.

Trust me m8, that's the idea

1024 * 512, diffuse normal spec selfillum

Quartersized:

Maybe it's just my choice of subject, but the specs for this comp seem rather stratospheric.

I like that actually, reason the more I really want to do this one.

Your flag is cool btw, you've convinced me of your choice of colors
