Competition #14 - Harry
Concept done. Not sure if it breaks any rules so waiting for the go-ahead.
I don't know if this is a legal entry. But I will specify that it's a living creature and not a vehicle, and each creature would be functional in battle independantly (though presumably they'd be reliant on supply and command insects, but the same could be said for any entry) I'd like official word on this please. If absolutely necessary, I will submit just one of the arqebusiers on top, but i'd really rather have the units support eachother, and will split it into two entries if it's the only way. Two Mycetophagus melsheimeri and a Dynastes hercules ![]() Last edited by Harry; 07-10-2008 at 06:06 PM. |

Oh, i didnt notice it saying explicitly only one bug was allowed?
edit: Hmmm. Vehicle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Vehicles are non-living means of transport." So, I guess it comes down to whether this concept is invalid due to being a "rider." Looking up the definition of rider, it says "one who rides," so i looked up "ride," # To be carried or conveyed, as in a vehicle or on horseback. # To travel over a surface: This car rides well. # To move by way of an intangible force or impetus; move as if on water: The President rode into office on a tide of discontent. So i think some clarification is needed. Last edited by Harry; 07-10-2008 at 06:28 AM. |

"My concept is to have a Shamrock Spider armored like an India war elephant with a younger shamrock spider riding on it's back. " (The Green Lion)
"@ The Green Lion: Riders are not allowed. We discussed this too, your creature/character has to be an independent unit, hence... " (Doylle - Site Admin) hope that helps. |

The riders are only there to demonstrate how the unit is intended to be used though. Does this mean we couldn't make a bug that heals other bugs 'cause it's useless without injured comrades, or a moth carrying supply crates because it doesnt actually do anything on its own, just supports other units?
edit: and what if i made each creature (the arqebusier and the hercules) separate entries? they'd work just as well on their own, or, "independantly." The arqebusiers could be replaced with archers or guys with huge spears or cannons, or the hercules could just be released into enemy lines independantly. As Lamprabbit suggested, I already submitted this concept and had it rejected (http://www.game-artist.net/forums/lo...cations-6.html), so you should probably consider that to be the official word. You can't break it apart and submit it as seperate entries, as the rules state only one entry per person.

maybe, but the difference is that your concept was purely a rider. Both my species would fare fine on their own in battle, and I'm sure if the hercules was disabled, the fungus eaters would dismount and fight on foot. I'm also sure if the fungus eaters were sniped, the hercules could still do significant damage to enemy lines, specially seeing as it presumably has the same level of intelligence as the riders.
