Greetings all,

i have been absent from 3D arts for some time now and want to regain some of the creative spirit from back in the days.

So i'll start by competing with you all and my subject is Lucanus cervus. I'll dig up some pictures later on.

So here is my subject. I'll stick to the original but maaaybe if i have time and budget i'll make it a little more fantastic...seems to be the general motto *g*

...and some progress - it sits at 998 tris at the moment and i think i got the maximum of detail out of this. Maybe some blatant deletes on the underside could be performed but i'd need a great idea for additional fantasy-gadgets to justify that.

Oh well still time some time to go so maybe a nice idea will strike me.

Hi again,

I think i have a nice theme for this bug - i'll make it use electricity as its main weapon. I think it might look quite cool with arcs of lightning between its antlers. To complement this setup i'll try to create the effect of photovoltaic cells on the body beneath its wings...

Well enough of the talking. Here another progress shot implementing the changes and doing some more optimizing to fit the new geometry into the budget.



If anyone cares to crit i'd appreciate the input.

Those are some crazy bugs. I had one attached to my pants leg one time, and it took like 4-5 swipes to get it off of my leg, as it was dug into the fabric.
