Urban Warfare, Advance your Modding Urban Warfare is a Battlefield 2142 Modification. No! Don't go away! Hear us out first! Battlefield 2142 is not a very popular engine to make mods off, however this does not reflect upon the Battlefield 2142 mod projects, we are seeking to fix all these changes. To get it out of the way, NO you do NOT have to own 2142 to join our team and it is not a requirement of our team-members. Why we need team members? Urban Warfare has a highly skilled and dedicated team. However our team consists of only 8 members, as dedicated as we are, we simply cannot meet our mod release goal of a public BETA out by the end of 2008 alone. With more members we can work faster and hopefully reach our goal. About Urban Warfare: Urban Warfare is loosely based on George Orwell's 1984. It pits two sides, the Government Police and the United Peoples Movement against each other in an environment of tyranny, fear and persecution. We are not only changing the face of the game with our total conversion, but revitalising it with new and unique game modes, one of which is already tested and working. The world of Battlefield 2142 modding is largely uncharted, with so far the release of only one other successful mod, First Strike. What do we need? Level Designers/Mappers Requirements: Battlefield 2 Battlefield 2142 BF Editor We are looking for those who are familiar with the map making section of the BF editor. In this role there is not that much work so it might appeal to those who don't have as much time on their hands as they'd like to. To clear it out; if you have the above requirements and are even only slightly familiar with the BF editor we are willing to train you in the 'art' of Battlefield 2142 Level Design. Even better if you already know how to map in the BF editor with 2142 then you're welcome! Modelers Requirements: 3ds Max Examples of Work Yes, every mod needs them. Our modelers do a variety of jobs, from modeling high-tech weaponry to infantry models to vehicles to terrain and buildings. What we present to modelers in our team is choice, we have a lot of work that needs to be done, true some work is more important but in the end it all needs to be done. Our modelers won't just be allotted random work, during their trial period we'll work together with them to work out where their strengths in modeling lie and from there we will offer them a few assignments at a time and from these they can choose their assignment. Texturers/Skinners Requirements: Examples of work Owning 3ds Max is an advantage List of software using for texturing must be sent Because we are a laid back team we give the work to our team members slowly, so as not to pressure them to much, however the result of this is crawling along at a snail's pace. As listed above for our modelers work, our texturers will be working on a variety of assignments from texturing high-tech weaponry to texturing infantry models to vehicles to terrain and buildings. We also try to give our texturers some choice but we are really restricted in doing this because they can really only texture what's gone through our modelers already and thus their choice is restricted. Animators Requirements: 3ds Max Advantage is a prior knowledge of the BF engine As most of you know, a lot of modelers can't animate as well as model, this means we're going to have models sitting around un-animated. Animators are in high demand and low supply in the BF modding community, we're trying and failing to find some who can do work for us, even part time. If you can animate we want you! Sound Effects Requirements: Audio editing and recording software and tools Prior experience highly preferable. We need a variety of in-game sound effects, voice acting clips and other audio clips created for our modification. The work is almost always different and challenging.
