[INDIE] MechTech MMO

Howdy Folks, before i get spammed with hate mail saying its impossible and so fourth.


The Idea of the game: You play as a Mech ( MBR ) Mechanical Battle Robot, they were designed for the human race to survive inside of, Im going to post the storyline below, Please point out any errors or grammar problems as im Dislecsic.

Earth was a disgusting place, the world being torn apart by giant storms, hurricanes and tidal waves. The world was being stripped for resources, mines and quarrys scattered throughout the world. Global warming growing and growing the worlds temperature rose a whole 9 degrees centigrade, it doesnt sound like much but it was enough to turn the world into a hell hole, Great landscapes torn away by the harsh winds were now empty deserts. stripped bare by the storms, by the year 2090 the whole earth was almost deserted. Strange travellers walked the long forgotten roads, they carried blades and weaponry not seen for many years. They would attack and kill just for reminents of food and equipment, carrying a single tin can of food would have a man dead and eaten by the desert dunes.

The Sand would flow over whole villages and buildings, leaving nothing more but a dusty dune. The Larger cities were still around. their rotting peaks still stood amongst the rubble of the smaller buildings, some cities were still whole yet nature had begun to engulf them into her dieing grasp. as the world slowly began to die, the population shrinking and almost no lone human left alive. the survivors began to form groups, those groups formed legions, and eventually you could find a whole party of around 600 people travelling the baron landscape like a pack of wild dogs, scavenging and stealing they would do anything just to stay alive.

Eventually as these legions grew and grew and one legion met another they would form whole partys of men and women in the thousands. as these partys grew they began to fight for power over the left over scraps of what was once earth, their were to many 'factions' as they called themselves fighting over what was left of earth, the Toik and the Tech.

The Toik were a large group of people who had turned to right their ways and had begun living with the earth. protecting it and living a healthy safer lifestyle. protecting the enviroment and trying to bring the earth back to a living state.

The Tech were far, far differnet. The Tech decided that earth was already past the point of no return and that they would fight and they would kill for what ever they could get to survive on. The tech managed to find and build superior technology they had hundreds of scientists and engineers working to build their elite, the one thing which could make them the very best. Mechs

The Mechs were short for Mechanical Battle Robot or MBR, they were giant suits which a human controlled from the inside, it carried fresh clean air into the cockpit so that the driver could breath easy anywhere on the earth, it carried several weapon systems which could be used to protect itself against nearly all enemies. They had a multitude of ballistic weaponry from heavy machineguns to giant plasma lasers and rocket launchers.

As more parts where found mechs became not the rarety but a common thing to see walking down the empty streets of kly, Nearly every man and women in the whole of Kly had a mech acctually and they spent most their time in them. Why sit in the disgusting air and feel the brute winds and heat when you could sit in a comfortable airconditioned cockpit with built in clean air supplys and all the weaponry to protect you against any enemy.

Not only were these mechs all the same but their were 4 different mech types, their was your standard Gyges which was a low quality light armoured mech, it moved faster than the other mechs because of its reduced armour and less weapons but it still carried a shoulder rocket launcher and two plasma rifles. Then their was the Chimera, the chimera was a beautiful mech, good speed and good armour as well as enough heavy weaponry to resink the HKS ninty four. but to some the Chimera MK1 Just wasnt good enough so they developed a Chimera MK2, it was highly experimental but other time they grew to love its large cockpit excellent airsupply and heavy weaponry. though slower than conventional mechs it was the beast of them all.

Then finally their was the Chronus, the chronus was a heavy duty war mech, it had a tight fit battle seat with optimum armour and controls, it had speed faster than any other as well as weapons and armour to trash even the hardest opponent, it dropped the old shoulder rockets and adapted a four barreled heavy chain gun and a heavy flamethrower. its armour was superior to any other, a rounded shell to reflect even the hardest of shells. The Chronus's design plans were lost when professor albar von'helk died, he hid them in a top secret facility which was unknown to all but his succesor abert von'helk who refuses to tell anybody the location of the hidden documents.

As Mechs came more and more popular through the tech society people oponed up places especially to customize your mech with new colours and even private arms shops opened up to customize weaponry for your mech. while the tech society grew and grew the toiks began to dispurse and fail.

The Toiks had been living their lifestyle too long, the earth hadnt event begun to repair itself and surely never would, many left their lifestyle to join the techs mechanical way of life. The Techs and toiks slowly begun to hate each other, their opposing life styles causing fights between the two factions and even battles sometimes. every time though the toiks were surpressed almost instantly by the tech technology. The Toiks just couldnt survive when up against such brutish power.

As the toiks slowly died off one by one they had to rethink their whole scheme, as they realised that their was obviously no hope for their faction nor earth they designed their own kind of mechs. well design is lieing the toiks stole the blueprints from the Techs and began to develop their own mechs, the toik copied the techs in ever way possible, when the techs first heard of their plans they were outraged, but it was already to late they blueprints had been taken and the toiks had begun creating their own mechanical battle robots, the tech's created a death squad of elite MK2 Chimera's to destroy the toiks once and for all, surprisingly the toiks had infact taken the exact same MK2 Blue prints and had developed their own group of elite warriors, not only had they stolen these blueprints but rumour had it that they had found the elite chronus blueprints and were keeping them under heavy lock and key inside the Toik headquarters. the location was unknown to all except the very top of the toik society, the deathsquad moved out to try and capture and sequre the mech blueprints and destroy the toiks chances of ever creating a mech again, but they were to late.

They tech deathsquad arrived to a whole army of toik Chimera's as well as 5 chronus mechs, they tech squad where cut down like rape by a farmer, their destroyed mechs recycled to create even more mechs for the toik faction.

As the Toik faction grew they began to venture further from their colonies and some even formed squads and attacked the tech city of Kly. They roamed way out of the comfort zone for the techs and wars broke out on all boarders, they put up new laws in the tech land saying a toik could be shot and killed on site aslong as his body and mech were returned to the tech headquarters. For each kill they would recieve 1000 copper pieces to use to upgrade their mechs to kill more of the enemies. the same went for the toiks they layed down similar rules until whole squads of mechs would be seen wondereing out of the cities and returning bearing the lifeless shells of other mechs.

The mech 'corpses' littered all over Kly so much now that they requested you only bring back a datadisk and now it could be handed in at any vendor for 1000 copper peices, this data disk carried all the information that was held within your mech as well as sound files of your conversations and your text from talking, obviously only the proffesionals could read these disks so they were worth a hefty price on the market. any data found on these disks could be used to further their attacks on the toik military, you could see many warband leaders collecting disks from his band and buying them from other traders, your simple gyges disk was worth 1000 copper but a MK1 Chimera was worth atleast 5000 to a good salesman and the MK2 Was almost double that of the mk1 at 9000 copper, and for a single chronus disk it was worth 20000 copper pieces to nearly all salesman and even higher if you could sell it to a military leader at a war-colledge.

So as the disks gained worth and it was a living working in a warband, people began to form more and more until eventually nearly the whole tech population were working for or in the military. Their were proffesionists like weapons crafters and mech painters but the real money was in killing the toik.
There are Several playable classes:
Sniper
Gunner
Mechanic

Mech Types:

Two Legged:
Gyges ( Starter Mech )
Chimera MK1 ( Intermediate Mech )
Chimera MK2 ( Advanced Mech )
Chronus ( Epic/Rare Mech )

Four and Six legged Mechs:
Alyek MK1
Alyek MK2
Alyek MK3
Chronai

You can choose either Alyek MK1 or Gyges at the start of the game, you must then complete a series of quests to either get your Alyek MK2 or your Chimera MK1.
The MK3 Alyek and the Chimera MK2 you must kill a raid boss, then the Chronus and the Chronai drop from the Toik HQ and the hardest boss in the game.

The 'world' that MechTech is set in is not fully discovered so it allows you to discover new places as well as travel vast distances and travel through special hidden places to allow yourself to discover and explore more and more as you continue through the game. The map starts off black and as you discover more it becomes more and more uncovered until eventually you can see the whole thing but even then there is a series of underground sewer systems and caves from the previous centurys buildings and structures just buried beneath the ground waiting for you to slip and fall into a hole and be entangled within a new world of mystery.

Weapon Information:


Weapons: Machine Guns: Level 1-20 light Assault Cannon Level 15-40 Light plasma cannon Level 30-60 Heavy Assault Cannon Level 60-120 Heavy Plasma cannon Level 120-200 Epic Assault Cannon

Rocket Launchers: Level 1-100 Light Rocket Launcher Level 100-200 Heavy Rocket Launcher

Flame Throwers: Level 1-50 Welding Torch Level 50-100 Light Flamer Level 100-200 Heavy Flamer

Pistol: level 50+ Flamer Pistol Level 1+ Assault pistol Level 90+ Laser Pistol Level 150+ Plasma Pistol Level 200 Chain Pistol

Weapon Description: Machine guns, Machine guns are rapid firing but low accuracy shots firing either steel shells or plasma. Plasma melts the metal of the opposing mech and is a better shell but steel is cheaper and you dont need to be as high level to get it.

Rocket Launchers: Rocket launchers are a one shot wonder style weapon you can shoot it once every 15 seconds so only great for taking out long distance strong opponents rather than a one on one gun fight, but still always the beast of the battle.

Flame Throwers: Flame Throwers are the perfect damage over time weapon, the scold the enemy mech with searing heat enough to bubble human flesh, torching the enemy mech causes damage over time as it burns the driver inside. as well as great AOE attacks.

Pistol: The Pistol, a quick easy to use weapon, good accuracy and range but not as much power as you would recieve from other weapons.


We are also planning on allowing you to change the paint texture on your mech to allow a variety of different mech textures to allow for players to be able to customize there character more.


The projects engine is still under discussion we have been looking into many commercial engines such as Hero Engine, Big World Engine and even at having our own engine custom made.

Although we have a very large team we are always looking for new recruits to come and help the project.

Mechanical Technologies

The Project is free and works on a Email and MSN basis you must have both of these to enter. Windows messenger works too.

We are currently Looking for the following artists:

Concept Artist ( Must be able to draw large robots and cityscapes. )

Prop and Enviroment modelers. ( Must be able to either create and texture multiple props included weaponry or must be able to create large 3D Cityscapes and or maps using mapping software of choice. Must have .b3d export or .3ds )

Scripters must know several different languages from c++, VB to Python and game scripting languages.

Animators ( Must be able to animate characters, Well and must be using either: Fragmotion, max or Maya or another Animation software aslong as it exports .b3d )

The Positions are unpaid but we want to try and create a way of sorting out the spliting of profits on release so that all the profits are split between our multiple assests.

Well we have been hard at work here at Emotive Media working on mech tech and i thought really we needed a bump and i wanted to release some screenshots.

Nope, afraid not. there is a mech game on there but its not ours, we are still looking through various larger commercial engines. Big World Engine seems like a suitable option currently as Hero Engine increased our planned deal by $8000 USD per month so we decided to leave HE and move onto Big World and various other engines, if you have any ideas feel free to put them forward.

8 sided cylinders, the bullets come out of the 8 small holes in the front, the barrels spin and then fires while spinning. Minigun style.
