Are you sure about ANY HW shaders?

Thanks for the positive feedback guys!

@GH33DA : Yes, you can apply any GLSL shader that you write to any model through the level/scene scripts. You / I do have to write the shaders first though :P.

@neti : I've been a DirectX programmer for years but more recently I've been interested in cross platform code and also I wanted the ability to use some DX10 effects in Windows XP. I did some DX10 test projects and was thoroughly unimpressed with the performance that I got compared to my equivalent DX9 projects. I guess I just wanted a change.

what about a video game puzzler based on this....

YouTube - Human Tetris 3

Good to start small so the art can be concentrated and good.

could control a character dodging the walls using a third person view and a rag doll drag and drop control system.

what do you think?

That video made me laugh quite a lot! What will they think of next :P.

Anyway, the concept is good. I like the originality of it, I don't think I've ever seen a game like that before. I also agree with keeping the project relatively small initially, especially due to the number of people who would be working on it and timescales involved. I'm wondering about the longevity of it though, would it be one of those play once then uninstall type things or something you'd keep coming back to?

well i think it depends on a few things. firstly how would the art look? ive got a few ideas in mind for that, perhaps something stylized. multi player and mini games would also give the game longevity. if that could be implemented, could be on to a winner...

also if there was a mode that was like tetris, so it just kept throwing walls at you, then that would also keep some people happy.

I've done network programming before, so multiplayer could potentially be integrated. Either that or make it 2 player on 1 PC, although I'm not sure exactly how that would work at the moment. Mini games also shouldn't be too difficult once the main part is set up and working I would think.

OK, I'm game for working on something like this, would you be interested in doing the art? I've sent you a PM.

Thanks!

I would play a game like that
Wish I had time to do some art on it, looks very fun and you sound organised. Good luck!
