The SuperTuxKart Team is recruiting for contributors and team members. If you want to work on a fun game that is appropriate for anyone age 5+ to play, then make it STK. Also feel free to just submit a texture, a model, or a level. That is also fine.


About SuperTuxKart:
STK is a kart racing game featuring the mascots of many open source project. It has been in active development for seven years and it is one of the most popular open source games, with over 2.5 million downloads. Last month we released version 0.8 of the game and it is available for free on Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD and Solaris. STK has also translated into many languages and has users all over the world. It's fully playable and the game mechanics are reaching a mature state. However, we want the game to feel alive and interesting. We want your help to make SuperTuxKart a truly great game.

Below is a partial list of work that needs to be done.

Art
-Replace low resolution and poor quality textures
-New skyboxes that more appropriate for certain levels
-New effects for things like crashing into an object (or player) head on and landing from a
high jump.
-Sparks when karts bump each other
-New icons for weapons
-New skins for weapons and characters
-Working with level designers to get colors and themes consistent and interesting


Modeling
(Blender 3d is used modeling karts. Read this tutorial)
-Add more karts and/or improve existing ones
-Improve existing characters
-Add new objects like trees, bushes, architecture, wildlife, scenery.
-Replace models that do not fit the game's cartoony feel

Animation
-Better animations for winning a race
-Greater animation in levels (can be things that do not affect the race, such as backgrounds and animals)
-Idle animations for characters
