The Great Collaboration Challenge

Welcome again for another chance to compete!

This challenge will be different, as we're teaming up with the good folks of NextGenHardSurface.com to offer you...

Important!
All screenshots must be made within a game engine package suck as UDK, CryEngine, Unity, and of course Marmoset Toolbag. Also make note of which engine you used in your final submission.

Every submission should follow one of these four genres:

World War 2 ~ Retro Game Revisited ~ Science Fiction ~ Horror

Collaboration details:

Whether you'd prefer to create a vehicle or environment decides which forum you should post your wips. You are welcome to choose whichever topic you like or both, if you can handle it. Just be sure to visit both forums entries and be sure to cast your vote for each community's winner in the end. Lastly, everything made for this competition should be newly created. Please don't upload already finished projects, as we will know and you'll be disqualified.

Everyone wishing to model an environment, please submit your wips and finals here in this page.

If you wish to create a vehicle, please check out the guidelines of the collaborating forum at: Next-Gen Hard Surface

Feel free to share reference links and other useful information with your fellow artists.

These comps are not just about fame and glory, but also about progressing as an artist while networking in a friendly competitive setting. At any rate, have fun and try something new!

and...

GO!

Hi,about the Retro game genre..can we remake some old-school game environments in hi-res or should we make them look something like a low-res N64 game?

Hello warconga, welcome to the forum and competition!

Whether you want to make an old school game environment look "new" or "retro" is entirely up to you. As long as your using an idea from a retro game (before next gen games), and you follow the other guidelines, your entry will qualify for submission.

Hi everyone. For the longest time I could not decide on what I wanted to do. I'm just going to do something sci fi.

Hi Polygoblin, Cool challenge!!! I'm torn between retro environment or sci fi vehicle. I was wondering if a transformer would count as a sci fi vehicle? I know that it would have some cool hard surface modelling in but I suppose doesn't really follow the brief? plus 4 weeks maybe a bit tight for that. ooh or maybe combine a vehicle and retro environment by recreating the street fighter scene where you beat up the car? E honda FTW! mmmm I'll have a think.

Heyheyhey! It looks like a nice challenge! I perheaps make an environment "arena" for my WW2 tank I'm making. I originally intended to make one, at least now I have the motivation.

But I want to discuss this "texture size limit". Does "max 4096" mean that we can use more textures as long as they fit into a "4096×4096" canvas? For example, in that fits 4 * 2048×2048 textures. or 16 * 10241024 textures. That would mean more sence rather than 4096 means 4*1024 (like in one of the previous competitions - the Beach Vendor)
