Halfway through the games course now, its awesome! Have learned so much already, I seriously recommend this to any aspiring Maya game artists, I say Maya as its the weapon of choice, but I guess you could take whatever you learned on the course and apply it in another 3D app. Really awesome, check out an open day like Dabookerman if you're not convinced!

Ah brilliant.
Is there any chance to show us some of the work you have done if at all possible. I remember they showed us some work from beginners after the 6 week point and I was well impressed.

I saw the work as well, its awesome, was blown away There was someone who made a kind of jewelry lockbox in the vein of Prince of Persia, and had a moving green to light green texture on it, mystical! I'm defo going to upload some stuff when I've polished it off, unfortunately haven't had time to fully finish anything since it's flown by so fast and I've been finishing off university during the course duration (So glad to be done with uni now and able to concentrate on the work I actually enjoy )

hey philly13 (i sit 2 rows behind you )

before coming to escape i did a games course at uni aswell, which was frankly, pants. but at escape the games course is brilliant. and the guy teaching us really knows his stuff.

a friend of mine who works for a games company looked over our timetable of things we are being taught, and he was impressed by the subjects being covered.

admitedly it's a lot of money, there's no getting round that. But for me the decision was this, or back to uni, which would have worked out more expensive in the long run. i don't have any regrets about taking this course (well, perhaps not following through on my bank robbery plan...)

i'll be posting up some of the work i've done ont he course on my 3d sketchbook soon (when i get a chance)

Hey mate good to see ya on the forum =) Yep Uni was exactly the same for me, I've spoken to a lot of people who've been to Escape and all said similar things, "I wish I'd come here in the first place instead of wasting 3 years in Uni", ain't that a fact! These last 2 weeks are gonna be quite zbrush heavy so once again I recommend anyone who's considering being an environment artist in games to do this course, you won't regret it

I want to be a character artist in games, and Jason Jenner, the training manager said he would recommend I still do the game course, instead of the character course.
Just throwing that out there for those who might want to be a character artist.

Also, I'm pretty much the same, wasted 3 years at uni, not got me anywhere.

Funnily enough I was at the open day as well. Was pretty impressed with what I saw, but as others said it's finding the money that's the problem

Hei there its been almost a year from last post and i was wondering if there are some more opinions...? im about to finish my (disappointing) bachelor here in switzerland and i tought i could goto the uk to learn some english and pack that gamecourse with it aswell... . Ive been working with 3dmax and mudbox and i know i should look a bit into maya and zbrush aswell, would complement well i guess... given my mediocre proficiency with english would it make sense to follow such (expensive) course or not? after one year is there someone else with feedback about Escape studios?

regards
Raffaele

Raffaele - Best way to find out is if you show what level you are at with your work. Have you got any work online? I would say the courses there are great, (they have to be for that kinda money,) but I would also point out that you can get to a high level by self training and dedication, bit of a mod work, etc. It's good that you use Max but if you want to get on a course there you're best off learning Maya straight away so you can hit the ground running. If you need any info just PM me your question's if you want, will be glad to help out
