Texturing Help!

I am new to texturing and I have noticed a lack of tutorials I can't seem to find any, I have already looked at Stefan Morrell's tutorial on Hard Surface Texturing but I want some more tutorials. Can someone link me to some, it would be much appreciated!

It depends on what you want to texture, really.

in my opinion start off with watching a few tutorials then just get into it - make some flat wall textures that are tileable for example....

try buy: Next-Gen Texturing Techniques | Eat 3D if u can afford it.

Weapons in particular metals are quite simple to texture actually - u juse need a subtle grey with some low opacity overlays, then on the spec increase opacity of your kind of grungish overlays and increase the speculars..

i'm planning on making some video tutorials about texturing (even though i'm not an absolute pro)
which will cover wood, metal, paint, bricks etc

Careful with those weapon texturing tutorials. They're used EVERYWHERE and the end result is that there's a sea of people out there who all texture in exactly the same way and it's all extremely formulaic and frankly boring (not to mention static).

My advice would be to largely ignore them and go about it your own way. Read through them, pick up the tips on highlighting edges and how different surfaces behave under lighting conditions, but don't follow them exclusively. Doing it your own way means you have a better understanding of the how and why and then you can end up with flat-out awesome weapon textures like these rather than the same old shit that everyone else is doing

Agreed with Talon. it is not bad to try some of those techniques to see how they work out but try to get your own method. this will take some time to learn but it is better than just copying the tutorials.

Also Talon that is a great set of models your were referencing too
