Ach, don't give up. Everyone sucks when they first start texturing, it's like everything else - it just takes practice.
Really don't rely too much on tutorials. For most of them, they won't teach you anything in the end. Try and get out of the mindset that tour first response to something new is "I need to do this, let's go find a tutorial to tell me how". Because then if there isn't a tutorial for exactly what you need - you're screwed. Try and look at other people's textures and think about how you'd go about achieving the same effect. Also, if you post up your attempts here, we can give you hints on how to proceed, what to look for, better ways to do things, etc... And don't be afraid to ask other people how they got the results they did. |
