Fast Organic UV Mapping

I use XSI 7 Essentials which has very good UV tools in my opinion. However, I am looking for something that will allow for a much quicker unwrap of organic models which I can then tweak in XSI.

I own Ultimate Unwrap 3D 3 Pro but there is very little documentation for the newer features plus I haven't used it for a couple of years. I am specifically interested in the Pelt Mapping feature of Ultimate Unwrap 3D. Anyone know of any documentation or tutorials for this?

What about other options? Something better and not terribly expensive?

Thanks,
Darren

As said, Blenders unwrap is rather effective for organic models, that's the only thing I've ever used it for

And it's a free app aswell.

Cheers!

Funny thing is that I think I still have Blender installed. I've never really used it all but according to some searches I am conducting it seems to have an excellent tool set for unwrapping organic models. Thanks for the tip!

Still interested to hear about anyone else's work flow, though.

If you can afford $140, go for 3D coat.
This is the most relevant 3D texture paint program with pelt mapping and sculpting. Support PSD layers.

I already own this application, too. I have done some sculpting with it but I hadn't really looked into the other features very much. It looks like all the answers to my question were already right under my nose...

It doesn't get much faster than that.

I'd say modo has the best unwrapping tools I've ever used.

pullin shapes - Roadkill UV Tool

Roadkill was made using blenders code. It's primarily a maya/3ds max plugin, but is also a standalone tool, and can be helpful for unwrapping.
