It boost the kinetic energy of particles to create energy I think, 'twas on the science channel.
I have to say two things, one, I love that scooter that the firemen are riding on, it's funny because they look so serious. Two, that's what my brain looks like ![]() |

Rock star physicist Brian Cox explains it all!
YouTube - Brian Cox: What really goes on at the Large Hadron Collider As long as I don't wake up with a black hole next to me the morning after it gets turned on its all good. Interesting stuff really. I wonder if they will find any higgs particles. |

its been nearly ready for about 4 years it seems. Really interesting stuff though. Just as a show of technology and engineering its a stunning achievement
I've watched 3 programs that explained it and all of them made my brain bleed out my ears. From what i understand its very cool stuff BBC did a docudrama thing about what could go wrong with the LHC, as well as the most likely ways earth will end - very cool program with seriously badass fx YouTube - END DAY Part 1 of 6 part 6 is what could go wrong with the LHC, but hey its only Switzerland right? sorry Noel no ban please

"Ooooooooh it's just like Half Life".
How? Because it's sciency? I very much doubt they'll have Stephen Hawking in there, pushing a trolly of sci-fi fuel into their collider, only to have it all explode a gateway to another dimension. He could NEVER work a crowbar. PuhLease ![]() I think either Horizon or Panorama had an incredibly good documentary on this, talking about miniature black holes and all that shizz. But yeah. It feels like it's been open for a while now. Quote:
They also think they might find other stuff in there to support scientific theories that contain elements found in the collider's experiments. Basically they made up these elements with guesstimations, and now they're looking for them with these awesome machines ![]() Last edited by glynnsmith; 08-06-2008 at 11:59 AM. |
