Absolutely
I can't stress how thrilled i am to be able to learn up close and personal like this. Its pretty much the same situation i was in for the film company, only there i was a junior not an intern and i knew someone on the inside. But it was all new and had to learn a bunch of new softwares quickly.

Requiem said it right, you have worked hard enough! Great portfolio. I am sure you will pick up modeling for games very fast. Good luck man.

Best of luck to you over at Crytek. That was a really interesting story on how you got the job, goes to show that you never know what possibilities lay ahead unless you move forward.

That is very very true. Someone I met recently had his reel on his cell phone. It was really awesome to start up a conversation with someone and start talking about 3d and being able to see a reel mid conversation, really great idea I thought... now I just need to get a phone that has video playback. Because you never know who might be sitting next to you at the bar having a drink.

By the way really awesome user name Layer01. I reminds me of the headaches I used to give myself in photoshop when I first starting texturing... before I got in the habit of renaming all the layers I create. :P

Most of the time at Crytek i was like a kid in a candy store, only they make secret candy with amazing robots and if you look at it too long it expands your consciousness hehehe. That and most of my mental energy was going towards making sure i spoke correctly and or didn't forget to blink

So that coupled with the fact that i am not the best person with names (takes me a few goes to remember a name) means i can't remember which is quite embarrassing really.

I can tell you however that it was this guy who interviewed me, is that ben? lol

Filbot: thanks man, thats the cherry on the cake for me today

showNOmercy: You're absolutely right, I was living in Australia and only got the job in Germany as a direct result of a contact/friend i'd made on the messiah3D IRC channel.
That then led me to learn ZB which i had always put off due to its daunting interface and feature set, which in turn led to my job (at least in part) at Crytek..which again I got thanks to walking into the booth at the FMX, which was on the very week after the company i was at closed down O_O

so..it's been like dominos in a way lol. I think an open mind to where you live/go helps, as i dont/didnt mind moving. And its very true that you have to "get out there" as an email has no face, but when you stand in front of someone and talk to them you make a connection and its a million times more powerful, thus you're work has more impact on them.

So the old "right place right time" still holds true.

Listen to me giving out advice lol, sorry not trying to preach here
But just some reflections on the events that have brought me thus far.
