SCAD - Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia -Recommended.
I didnt go there, but I know lots of great people who have. The town is quaint and fun...the school is well funded and very nice...the program for gaming is new, but their movie media program has some of the tops in the movie industry...so Im sure their game program will too. |

my personal sugestion would be forget about game art school, you can learn anything you need to know for free online. I like being free of the massive school debt that so many of my co-workers are burdoned with. if you want to tak some classes, go more traditional, learn the bassics of form from life drawing / anatomy / drafting classes.
the internet is by far the best place to learn to do games.. theres not real reason to go to school for it, |

I'm attending the Art Institute of San Francisco - here's the program outline : http://www.artinstitutes.edu/sanfran...lay=curriculum
Of course, school isn't the necessary route, but there's a great atmosphere available which can help improve your skills. |

I've not heard of any in Edinburgh. I've heard that there's one up in Dundee that's supposed to be ok, but it's not specifically games, if I recall. I think you might have to look towards England for a specific game art or design degree.
I'm at University of Teesside (in Middlesbrough, England, UK) doing a BA Computer Games Art. I've only completed the first year so far, so my view maybe be kinda biased... but having seen what we've been taught, what we're going to be taught and having spoken to some of the lecturers and graduate students... I wouldn't recommend it so far. Just get involved with some mods, kick around the game art forums for a couple of years and you'll learn more than university courses will teach you. And even if you're at uni, get involved in mods, too. Seriously, for me the learning and experience has been miles better, faster and more fun. |
