Hi everyone, I would suggest taking a look at Escape Studios - Computer graphics and animation courses they have a really good success rate for job placement after course completion as they have a recruitment sector too. They are based in London, alot of the students are graduates who were disatisfied with their degree or people in the industry that need to get to know certain software. They're pretty well regarded, they also do some outsourcing for companies liek MPC, Framestore...anyway, hope this helps!

Perhaps we could compile some sort of game-artist google map type thing, with all colleges, uni's, schools, etc which offer a games design course.

Good idea.

I have been looking at a level design three month thing over at Qantm. London is going to be expensive to live in though. Think I will just spend another two years at my current college so I can get stuff sorted out.

you realy have to add more details if you want people to respond to your messages. There is no way we can know what school you are talking about...

I have never been to the art institute, But i contemplated applying there and talked with the admissions people. They have not left me alone since. Any school that harasses you for 2 years trying to get you to come there probably isnt the best school. From what i have heard its more of a business than a school.

He's talking about the Art Institute of Philadelphia. AI is a chain of art schools all over. Despite the franchise setup, the quality of their schools varies pretty wildly. I've heard good things about the one in LA.

I wouldn't know about Philly, but I checked out AI Pittsburgh a number of years ago and wasn't very impressed. They had a student gallery on the bottom floor that had so-so work and there were numerous spelling errors, grammar errors, etc in their artist statements. If the best of the best don't have enough attention to detail to run spellcheck on something that's going to be posted in a gallery of their work I shudder to think about how bad their average students must have been.

thanks Ghostscape. i have heard people mentioned about AI in Pittsburgh, because they offer Game Art Design, you know, not many school has a major that is specifically for game, but pittsburgh is an exeption. but i never been to AI pittsburgh, i know that just because it says game design, doesnt mean it is a pro for game. it is that the aspect is focused on game more than advertisment and television, but media art and animation can still get you into some small game companies to get experience first, then you look for a bigger game companies. i heard some of the makers who made ATV Offroadfury was from AI phildelphia
