LP over PC

Its time for an upgrade.
Now I'm thinking of a Laptop over a PC. All I ever do is use CS2 / 3Dmax 9 and web serving. I've got my PS3/360 for games, would getting an LP a good idea or is PC still the king...

Hmm, if you're a traveling person, than I suggest buying a Laptop.
But still, I think the pc is a lot better.
It's stronger though, and if you're using max, than I suggest buying a PC.
But it still depends on the price.
How many dollar would you spend for a laptop or pc?

TBH do you think you could use that small Mouse pad thing that laptops come with for Max et? If you dont need to bring it with you then get a PC as you will end up putting it at a desk with a proper mouse etc anyway.

I have a pretty decent laptop (Core 2 Duo, 8400m, 3gb RAM, Vista 32 but I wish it was XP32 ).

Anyway, I only use it when I'm tired or am away from my PC, however, I wouldn't suggest buying a laptop if it'll be your only workstation.

My desktop is a quad-core and 8gb of RAM and an 8800gt, and you can't even get anything like that in a laptop.

If a laptop has an "8800" card in it, it's still going to be slower than a desktop 8600 for example (usually speaking).

If you realy want a muscle machine, then i'd go for the desktop. However, if you're only using it for max and photoshop then a dual core laptop with 2 gig ram is more than sufficient. I do all my stuff on my laptop, everything. I recently upgraded from 1 gig to 2 gig, and i noticed that this makes a huge difference. With the 2 gig I can even run UT3 with the settings on high, and it'll still run at a very good fps.

It's realy more a personal decision i think..

laptops are cool, and portability is always cool. Working with a laptop is just always kind of clunky... SO desktop is still king in my book!
