exploding imported model in HL2 mod
Hi,
my son (9) asked me to make our own map in HL2. Well, he cannot really do any modding just yet, and I do not have any experience in modding either, although I can do some modeling and texturing. But I though it would be a great father-son quality time :-) Anyway, we would like to make a simple single player square room with some HL2 assets but also model and import 2 meshes - a piece of furniture and a crate. I would like the furniture to interact with the environment (such as bullet holes when shot, interact with gravity gun etc) and the crate to explode when shot. Can this be accomplished without writing my own scripts? Can the trigger event be used for imported objects? I am not asking how to make the animation, but rather how to trigger the event without scripting. On another topic: how much freedom FPS Creator gives to a non-programmer when it comes to make simple (and maybe later not so simple) FPS maps with some imported object? In another words, does FPS Creator allow the kind of interaction with imported objects (without scripting) I am describing above? Thanks. |

I have have only used Unreal my self so far but someone here will be able to help you.
As for FPS creator the last time i looked at that was several years ago and it looks like a good program for just throwing level together etc. Its not Industry standard or anything like that but looks great for getting some of the basics. |
