I got hired too!
Thought I'd share that I also got hired at a pretty big house that I was working for as a tester. I'm a paid intern and replacing the previous guy who just got promoted. I have high hopes and really aim to meet their expectations. And from what I've heard their expectations are pretty high thus far.
I stopped testing on Friday and start real work on Monday Wish me luck, this is not a place that I want to screw up at. |

thanks guys
![]() As of now i guess i'll be doing little stuff like world props, making lods for the senior artists, cleaning up outsourced models and such. Yanno, the grunt work that no one else wants to do. I won't really know for sure until monday though. They also prepared a bunch of zbrush tutorials and want to get me started on learning perforce as well. I'm nervous and excited at the same time for tomorrow. |

Just prepare to get bombarded with information. For some reason learning all the pipeline stuff has a very similar feel to learning all the routines at a burger joint..which is to say the first 2 days are really confusing and might make you feel stupid (depending on how much info they shove at you).

Just an update:
I've learned more in these past couple of weeks than I did in my 4 month internship at Activision (unpaid "animation" internship for school) and probably more than 4 quarters worth of schooling at AI. They had me working on props for a level and getting a feel for their pipeline and working with the proprietary software as well as Perforce. I was afraid that I would be stuck doing environment stuff the whole time (which I'm not complaining about but I'd rather do other stuff), but I've finished all my environment assets and my lead has me on a crash course in Zbrush to help out in the future. It's definitely a lot of information to take in but I think I'm getting the hang of things relatively well. I started the Zbrush tutorials yesterday and I'm just doing some exercises on my own to get acquainted with the software and using alpha brushes. I think the biggest change is how lax the environment is, especially since the art department isn't very busy at the moment. I'm so used to have set times for lunch and breaks and being penalized for being late. Granted, I'm trying not to abuse this freedom...but it's nice to know that I can go out and have a smoke if I feel like I need to rest my eyes. |
