Level Editors?
Hello
![]() Im starting a personal project, focusing on environment art, as this is the direction i wish to go in the future. I was wondering however, are there any free and easy to use editors, i just want to build the objects in 3ds max, import them, light the map and walk around on it. Anything like this? Please note, they must be free. Thanks ![]()

Well, if you own any of the major mod-friendly games, you'll get an SDK with them that includes a level editor, they're probably your best bet, especially if you're using them to show off environment art for portfolio means.
They're not free, per se, but they do come free with the games they're for (and I'm guessing as a gamer, you own at least one of them... and if not why not). Half-Life 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis, Gears of War PC are all solid candidates. Roboblitz if you're really stingy. Last edited by Talon; 23-01-2008 at 11:01 AM. |
