monitor advice
my trusty philips CRT monitor upped and died on me a few months ago. i went out and bought the cheapest monitor i could find from argos. an acer 17 inch thing. its pretty dreadful, but it got the job done and got me through my last term in college.
my pc died at xmas so i replaced it with a mutant pc that runs crysis at the highest settings and all that jazz. my monitor is wasted on it. i want to get some advice on what monitor to get from people here. a good games/3d monitor, ideally under the 600euro mark. not too massive. size is not important, colour depth is. hope some people have some good advice on selecting my new monitor. thanks |

i just bought a Samsung 2220WM from newegg last night. all of the reviews were pretty good for it except the stand might be a little wobbly and minor lightbleeding around the edges. i was looking at my friend's monitor which is one step up from the one that i got and it was pretty slick, the colors were nice and vibrant and very easy to see.

i think your just gonna get people telling you what monitors they have
![]() Speaking from my own experience I had an Acer monitor which was just awful. Now I have a Dell and a a Samsung Syncmaster. The Samsung is the best of the three by miles |

I have pretty much the same setup as Alchamist there. A 19 inch dell and a synch master. If you are after something cheap which still has great specs (which i honestly think are disproportionate to the price) The Damsung SyncMaster226BW is a great monitor. Cost me about £200.
22inch widescreen 16:10 aspect ratio, 1680 x 1050 resolution, DVI and VGA input, 2ms response time and I forgot the contrast ratio but that's good as well. There were some earlier models of the synchmaster which were a bit iffy so watch out for them but this version is absoloutly top bollocks for its price. If price was no object however one of the big Dell beasts. Say what you like about their computers dell monitors are the best but pricey. |

I recently bought one a Samsung Pebble SM2232BW 22".
While it makes games and stuff look awesome and it's a slick monitor, it's really really bad for texturing. The monitor has some overexposing/oversaturating problems that I can't seem to shake (not by playing with it's menu settings, at least) making it very hard to know that what you're texturing is actually what anyone else will see on their normal monitors. At work, we just got in a load of iiyama prolite 20" TFTs and I'm really impressed with them. Very nice screens at a pretty decent price. Only problem is that they're not DVI monitors (personally, I don't notice the difference but some people get twitchy over that sort of thing). |

I use a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, and it is the best screen I have had to this day. With a refresh rate of 2ms and a contrast ratio of 3000:1, it truly is an awesome all-around screen. |

Hmm well seems I'm just totally different...I have a Westinghouse LCD monitor...in fact I have two of the suckers. Pretty much they pwn...altho the ones I like are older models, but they look tasty at a real good price. I'm not sure the model number off hand but I can get that if you'd like. Either way in my opinion Westinghouse makes a good screen.

I have a Belinea as my primary, basically the cheapest I could get. It's not particularly good but it does well enough. My secondary is a Samsung Syncmaster and as people have said before, it's really good.

I have a 22 inch Dell and this thing is one of the best I have seen... It runs about 320 us and a cheaper version with less USB ports for 289... It is exceptional and I love the quality and design....
