Truly poor colour accuracy and even worse viewing angles.

Even looking at this screen, I can see a gradient across a solid colour due to the viewing angle change.

the colour depth of my current acer 19 inch is terrible. banding across colour gradients. also very poor contrast. total lack of depth. also the "pixels" look huge. i was used to a good CRT. i still think you cant get anything like them,........but i have come to accept that.

so, no TN? cheers for the advice.

Master Monitors List - WSGFWiki

This seems a fairly comprehensive list of monitors and their repsective components.

For the panel type, S-IPS is the best, MVA/PVA are middling and TN is the worse. Prices also follow that range from highest to lowest.

But you're right - nothing will beat a good CRT for colour accuracy, evenness and response time for a good while yet. It's just that CRTs are massive and they're pretty power hungry in comparison to TFTs.

Have this one:

bit-tech.net | ViewSonic VX924 - VX924

Love it, especially the 4ms response time I'm sure they have a newer variant of it out. Good luck in your search!

Yeah Talon, I've got a 22" Iiyama Prolite E2202WS and really I hate it .__. Just sitting at my screen looking straight into the centre of the screen because of the crappy viewing angles the top of the screen starts getting darker. And also, in games and movies dark colours blotch together and turn green and such, its like my pc is running in 16bit when its set at 32! TN ftl >=[

it seems most of the monitors i have been looking at are TN panels. i hope to be getting my monitor from these guys; Komplett.ie
as we have gotten a lot of stuff off them and have a good relationship with them.

the dell s-ips monitors look good, but the european dell website doesn't seem to do them.

this whole panel thing is crazy. a lot of manufacturars dont even state their panels.
thanks for this great info guys. really helpful
